Devotional
Dear Friends,
A Devotional Thought to consider for this season of time, and as we move forward into
2011.
Scripture: Romans 8:14-15, 19 (NASB) [Emphasis Mine]
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have
received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"...
For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the reveling of the sons of
God.

I have been recently impressed that the conditions of violence, economics, social
distresses, global political upheaval, signs in the earth, etc. point to the fact that we
truly live in a time when everyone (believer or non-believer) can say "no one has ever
been here before." Times are troubled and dangerous for sure.
Things that worked in the past aren't working any more. Most ask the question, "How
is one going to protect what is near and dear"? Actually, even asking that question
points to the fact that logic or the presumption that "things will work out" rules one's
life and destiny. In the conditions faced today, it is obvious that no one in the natural
world knows the answers that will resolve the issues; most are trying to figure things
out based on the logic of the sense world--presuming that if this is done, then that will
happen. This need not be so for those Christians who choose to live as citizens of the
Kingdom of God by walking in the Spirit and according to the covenant promises. For
example: I have decided to "not participate" in the downward economic spiral of this
age. I really don't care about worldly economy because my provisionary source is not
of this world. I choose to live out of the covenant of "blessed to be a blessing."
(Genesis 12:2) But what about....?, you may say. Well, what about it? The Word says
"And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus"
(Phil 4:19 NASB). If I am blessed to be a blessing and God will supply, I've got to
answer to a higher call than some low-level devil trying to steal my money.
As Christians, we are not to be walking in fear relative to the experiences of this age.
We are in the world, yes, but we answer to the government of a heavenly Kingdom.
The "policies" of the Kingdom of God are much different than the policies of this
earthly realm. Jesus said this to the ruler in the synagogue whose daughter had just
died, "Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear; only keep on believing." (Mark
5:36 NASB) We need to be walking in "believing" faith. (Notice that in this instance I
said in believing faith) Being in believing faith is different than the presumption seen
in the attempts around us to resolve today's circumstances. Presumption will get you
into big trouble. When you presume that something will go the way you say just
because you want it to, or because it is logical, or because it worked in the past, or
because it feels right, you're headed for continued calamity--today, perhaps even
destruction. Being in believing faith, however, will get you to victory--every time.
Why? Because believing faith is not based on you or logical presumptions; being in
believing faith is based upon your full acceptance of what God said HE will do--no
waivering, not based on time, fully anchored. How does one achieve believing faith?
By feeding on the Word of God and listening to the "still small voice" [of the Holy
Spirit] saying, "this is the way; walk in it. The keys in finding direction in the midst of
today's dilemmas are Word, Voice, Walk. If you apply all the Kingdom of God
implications of these three words, you will reach destiny's door--even though the
world around you is floundering.
In every situation requiring faith for victory, I have learned that I've got to know what
God promises regarding circumstances, hear His voice of direction about the current
challenge (or opportunity), and walk faithfully in obedience. Bottom line is that I must
know, hear, and do some things in the natural to "position" myself for God to do what
He will ultimately accomplish supernaturally in my circumstance--that place where He
puts His "super" on my "natural". The victory cannot be based on logic or
presumption. For instance, if I just sit (...on my everlasting) waiting for God to zoom in
and drop some type of escape or provision on me from the sanctuary ceiling, I'll sit for
a very long time and my trouble will overtake me. If I act presumptuously on an issue,
the result will be futility. However, when I come to that point in believing faith where I
have positioned myself and fully embrace God's promise, hear His voice speaking to
me about the issue, and begin walking out His direction, then, I can decree a thing and
the light of God's glory will shine on my path (the place and direction in which and
where I walk). Job 22:28
Hey, try it--you'll like it. When it gets down and dirty like it is today, what do you have to
look forward to by doing it the world's way? Choose Jesus and His Kingdom and live!
Have a blessed Christmas with family & friends,
